WPL 2023 3er partido: GG vs UPW; UPW ganó por 3 terrenos; Grace golpeó el hetrcik de cuatro patas

WPL's 3rd match double header's 2nd tournament is being played at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai. Beth Mooney rests for the today's match. 
Sneha Rana is leading the Team. GG has won the toss and opted to bat first. 

Openers Sophia Dunkley and S Meghana started playing against Rajeshwari Gayakwad bowls. Till the 4th over both the openers played well and covered 6 boundaries. 

In the 4th overs 5th ball, Sophia returned to the pavilion by scoring 13 runs for 11 balls including 2 boundaries. by Deepti Sharma. Meghana, in the 5th over sent back to the pavilion by Ecclestone in the 5th overs 5th ball. Sehravat took the catch of Meghana. She added 24 runs for 15 balls to the Team including 5 boundaries.



Till the end of powerplay in 6th over, GG score was at 45/2. At the start of the 7th over, Sutherland catch out by Anjali on the bowl of Sophie. She contributed 8 runs for 10 balls including 1 boundary. 

On the second ball of 11th over, Sushma Verma catch out by Shweta by adding 9 runs to the Team for 13 balls including 1 boundary. Ashleigh Gardner came to the pitch and hit boundary and sixer in the 13th and 14th overs. In the 16th over Gardner returned to the pavilion by Deepti after securing 25 runs for 19 balls including two boundaries and one sixer. 

At the starting of 18th over Harleen Deol catch out by Mcgrath. She missed to complete her fifty by 4 runs. She contributed 46 runs for 32 balls including 7 boundaries. 



At the end 20th over, GG score was 169 runs in total by losing 6 wickets. Highest runs scored by Harleen (46) and in the last over Hemalatha played good inning of 21 runs not out.

Chasing 170 runs, UPW started to play the match with their openers Alyssa Healy and Shweta Sehrawat against Kim Garth bowling in the very first over. Playing well till the third over, UPW faced their first wicket down in form of Healy, she scored 7 runs for 8 balls and hit one boundary.

Kiran Navgire shared the pitch with Shweta and hit the boundary. Unfortunately in the same over, Shweta returned to the pavilion catch out by Mansi. After that Mcgrath came to the pitch and went back to the pavilion without contributing to the Team. Hemalatha catches the bowl for Mcgrath while Kim was bowling.

Till the end of powerplay, GG captured 3 wickets of UPW and allowed them to score only 35 runs. 



In the 12th over 3rd ball, Kiran hit the half-century f0r 40 balls. But in the same over Deepti Sharma was declared clean bowled on the ball of Mansi Joshi. Deepti and Kiran were played in the good partnership of 66 runs. In the next over itself, Kiran also enrouted to the pavilion back. She added 53 runs to the Team for 43 balls including five boundaries and two sixers. 

Wicket were down for Simran and Devika in the 13th & 16th over of the match. At the end of 17th over, Grace hit the sixer on the ball of Tanuja. 

In the 18th over, Grace hit the hetrick. On the fifth ball of the over, Grace saved to be catch out as it was a No Ball.

In the 20th over, Grace completed the half-century by hitting the boundary. 

UPW won by 3 wickets. In the last over UPW needed 19 runs to win the match. Grace played a good inning and help the Team to win the match. GG bad fielding and bowler Sutherland also contributed to make UPW win the match.

Gujarat Giants won the toss and opt to bat first. Sneha Rana lead the Team as Captain Beth Mooney took rest due to her knee injury. The overall performance of the GG in the batting was commendable but in the fielding they were not up to the mark and contributed in the winning of UPW. GG given the target of 170 runs to UPW after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Although the start of UPW was not good in the batting as they lost 3 wickets for just 35 runs in the poweplay. But there was no less boudaries and sixers that were hit by the players that helped the Team to reach the score of 175 by losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.
